Aims and Objectives

The River Thames Visitor Centre is a 'not for profit' project which aims to provide a location, on the River Thames to raise River awareness provide educational material and a meeting place for all interested groups and people. It will also provide a base for the River User Group RUG for its work on the River.

It hopes to provide an advisory body for those wishing to enjoy the River: a club around a wide variety of social activities such as music, art, literature as well as a champion in respects of all activities concerned with the river, its banks and environs.

To meet these aims, its objectives will centre on understanding and explaining the environmental needs of the River, developing plans for its sympathetic environmental management, providing a location for these activities and space for enjoying the recreational and social benefits provided by the Sea in the City.

The River Thames Visitor Centre will also provide a location for the promotion of River groups and users and a visitor destination for Richmond-upon-Thames.
